Hoi Daniel! When you get married. Will it be with or without pre-nuptials, and why? Janien

Without, for a variety of reasons.

First, I’m only getting married once.   Someone is going to say, "You don’t know that, Daniel.  Things happen."   Well, true.  But I think if you go in with that mindset, you are setting the marriage up for failure.  Plus, as thoughtful as I am about things, does anyone think when I get engaged, it won’t have been very, very, very carefully thought out.   The other thing I am is patient.   So I’m not going to get engaged to a woman I met 2 months earlier.    Nor am I in any rush to get engaged.  I’m 24.  Lots of time.

Secondly, I believe that when you are married “the two shall become one flesh.”   You share everything.   You share your lives, your will, your fears, your aspirations, your body.    There will be no “hers” and “mine” when I get married.  There will be “ours.”   So if something WOULD happen (which I won’t allow), it would only make sense to divide it evenly, even if I brought more to the table when we got married.   Because when we made our vows, in my mind, we became one.

So no prenups.

Daniel

PS - He can say what he wants, but who do you think, faithful readers, is more of a “punk” - Kanye or myself?

I rest my case.
